COUPLE THERAPY

Couple relationships come into difficulty for many reasons, but better communication is always part of the healing journey. The sessions will help you and your partner better understand each other, resolve conflict and create a more satisfying relationship together.

FAMILY WORK

Systemic family therapy is designed to help families deal with a wide range of challenges. These sessions will enable all members to express and explore difficult thoughts and feelings, as well as looking for solutions together, within a safe environment.

I am a Relationship Therapist with over 10 years experience, mainly offering couple therapy and helping families with adolescent or teenage children. I step away from blame and encourage my clients to understand and remedy unhelpful patterns. I believe a ‘problem’ is usually located within a context rather than an individual.

You may be struggling with communication with your partner, or trying to recover from a betrayal of trust. Perhaps you have a child, whose neurodivergence (e.g. ADHD) or other emotional or behavioural challenges are causing intolerable friction in the family. Maybe you are struggling to connect with your teen, or are worried about their wellbeing. These are just some of the common issues my clients bring.

I use a range of methods, including techniques from Systemic Family Therapy, Body Psychotherapy, Mindfulness and more. Taking the body into consideration in therapy helps us to understand strong emotions and behaviours that may feel out of your or your loved one’s control.

I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and am a member of the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT).

I am recognised by private health insurance providers including Axa, Vitality and Aviva.

The idea of Psychotherapy can sometimes be daunting or off-putting, and you may think that asking for support means that you have failed in some way or that you have to be ‘going mad’ to qualify. This short video from the School of Life explains what psychotherapy is and why it might be helpful to you.

Having some psychotherapy is just about the most significant and interesting thing you could do to improve your chances of contentment - in relationships, at work, and with friends and family.
